Columbus Plans Public Hearings On Gun Ban Plan

The Columbus Dispatch on Oct. 20 reported that Columbus, OH, Mayor Michael Coleman and Columbus City Councilman Michael C. Mentel, council president pro tem, are leading the charge to pass another “assault weapons” ban for their city.

According to The Dispatch article, Mentel will hold public hearings in November to decide whether to ban or regulate the sale and ownership of so-called assault weapons. At the same time, the council will consider possible regulation of Tasers and stun guns.

The first public hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. The Columbus-based Peoples Rights Organization is urging concerned gunowners to write to the mayor and council members and to attend any and all hearings.
