NRA Election Results

The NRA Committee on Elections reported the following results of balloting this year for NRA board members.

A total of 1,299,360 ballots were mailed to eligible voting members of the Association for the election of 25 directors for three-year terms ending in 2003. A total of 126,076 ballots (9.7%) were cast by eligible members. All ballots received were valid except for a total of 3,826 (3.0%.) that were judged invalid for various reasons.

Elected to three-year terms were:

The remaining candidates on the ballot are as follows:

Only candidates nominated by the nominating committee were elected. None of the “do not vote for” nominees were successful.

A total of 2,429 ballots included write-in votes or a combination of write-in votes and votes for candidates on the printed ballot. In no instance did a write-in candidate receive as many votes as any candidate on the printed ballot. Michael J. Slavonic Jr. received 631 write-in votes and Louise Mandrell received 627. Both candidates received in excess of the necessary 250 write-in votes required by the NRA Bylaws, for inclusion on the ballot for the one-year, 76th director position elected by the voting members at the meeting.

Mandrell’s election to the one-year position was announced during the annual banquet on May 20, 2000 following balloting the same day.
